It has been a little while since I put the gear on the deck, but I’m still here getting all decked out!
I live in an area with lots of older homes which means old underground heating oil tanks are a problem. Home sales out here in the burbs of New Jersey are booming – if you buy an older home, you need to have an underground scan done. Any tank that is found needs to be removed along with the soil around it.
One of the homes behind us recently sold and the scan clearly detected an old tank underground. When I saw the excavator in the driveway, I scrambled to get the rig outside. Time to Excavate! Remediate, and Recordiate!
It isn’t the most thrilling recording in the world but I am sucker for reflections. I love all of the slapback off the surrounding homes. The recording also ends on the sounds of a commercial jet flying into EWR. It is still striking how few planes I still hear on a regular basis, but they are starting to come back.
